Born in 1978, he was initiated into the world of Carnatic Music by Vid. Gayatri Kesavan, Vid. Vasanta Ramanujam and Vid. RS Ramakanth. He took a break when he went to pursue engineering in BITS Pilani. He says "However, the break only served to increase my focus and convinced me that Carnatic Music was definitely the love of my life". He performs regularly in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and other parts of India. He has performed at several leading venues and festivals including the famed December Music Festival at Chennai. He also had the privilege and honour of performing at the Navaratri Mandapam in Trivandrum during the 2011 Navaratri Celebrations. Ravikiran has over 800 classical Indian and contemporary/world/melharmony compositions to his credit, making him arguably the most prolific composer of his era. He is A Graded Artist in All India Radio. He has a great passion for teaching and has conducted lecture demonstrations in India, Singapore and France.He is deeply rooted in Sampradaya. He has hosted two shows on Shruthi which is a 24-hour radio station. Under this trust, he has so far organized several exclusive concerts of Muthuswami Dikshitar’s compositions. He had also conducted workshops of Dikshitar Kritis. Guruguhaamrta also organizes a regular aradhana for Dikshitar at his Holy Samadhi at Ettayapuram (Tamilnadu).
